Nutella recipes don't get much tastier than this one. The combination of Nutella (chocolate hazelnut spread) and bananas on french bread is delicious by itself. But dip the whole sandwich in an egg batter and grill it, and you have french toast heaven!

You can use jarred Nutella if you like for this french toast recipe, but homemade Nutella (chocolate hazelnut spread) is divine and has no hydrogenated fats. Or look for all-natural chocolate hazelnut spread at your local Whole Foods Market or health food store.
Although this recipe appears to have a lot of fat, it is mostly the heart-healthy kind of monounsaturated fat. And remember, dark chocolate is full of antioxidants, and eggs offer protein. If you want to lower the cholesterol content of this recipe, use 3/4 of a cup of refrigerated egg substitute in place of the eggs. The recipe will still taste great.
