Healthy Homemade Salad Dressing Recipes

Low Fat Salad Dressings Olive & Oil and Balsamic Vinaigrette

Healthy recipes for low fat salad dressings. Oil and vinegar made with extra virgin olive oil is great for weight loss programs. These dressings are easy & delicious too!

Looking for low fat salad dressing recipes that are tasty too? On a diet plan that calls for healthy recipes? Salads are an important part of any weight loss program, but they have to be tasty in order for the dieter to want to eat them. These homemade salad dressings are easy to prepare that actually taste good!

Gourmet Olive Oils

Most of these salad dressing recipes can be kicked up a notch by using gourmet olive oils. Found in specialty stores and health food stores, these gourmet olive oils often come in different flavors, each with a unique taste and application. The infused olive oils are especially nice when used in homemade salad dressings.

Tomato Vinaigrette Recipe

  • 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped fine.

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a tight-fitting covered jar, and shake well.
  2. Makes 1 cup.

Oil & Vinegar Recipe - Perfect for Italian-style salads and antipasto platters.

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon honey
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 lemon, freshly juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon chopped basil, fresh or dried
  • 1 garlic clove whole peeled

Directions:

  1. Blend or shake all ingredients except garlic clove. Pour into bottle and add whole garlic clove and let marinate.
  2. Makes 1 cup.

Honey Mustard Dressing Recipe with Lemon - Great dressing for Chicken Caesar Salad.

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 lemon, freshly juiced
  • 1/4 cup cashew pieces, raw
  • 3/4 cups honey
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon peel, freshly grated
  • 1/2 extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 Tablespoons prepared mustard

Directions:

  1. Combine vinegar, lemon juice and cashews in a blender, and pulse on high until smooth.
  2. Add remaining ingredients, blend well.
  3. Makes 1 3/4 cups

Miso Dressing Recipe - Oriental cabbage salads and Udon noodles are complimented by this dressing.

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 lemon, freshly juiced
  • 2 Tablespoons miso, light or red
  • 1 teaspoon tarragon
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 Tablespoon dulse flakes
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, toasted

Directions:

  1. In a dry frying pan, toast sesame seeds on low heat, stirring constantly until golden brown and fragrant. Sesame seeds will burn quickly if not watched, so remove from the pan immediately and cool.
  2. Mix all ingredients except the sesame seeds in a blender, and pulse until mixed.
  3. Before serving a salad, pour dressing over the top, and garnish with sesame seeds.
  4. Makes 1 1/4 cups.

Great Garlic Dressing Recipe - This salad dressing is good on just about any salad!

  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • 1/3 cup distilled water
  • 1 lemon, freshly juiced
  • 3/4 teaspoon Mrs Dash salt-free seasoning
  • 2 Tablespoons chopped chives

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and pulse on high until well mixed.
  2. Makes 2 cups.
