Want to know how to make your own peanut butter? This is a peanut butter recipe that everyone will love.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are not just for kids. The trend toward gourmet nut butters of all kinds (peanut butters, almond butters, soy nut butters and more) is growing.

Companies like Peanut Better and Style Peanut Spread offer a wide variety of both sweet and savory flavors, such Thai Ginger and Red Pepper, Peanut Praline and Milk Chocolate Cherry Almond. According to the Style press department, its nut butters are a favorite among the celebrity set. But they don't come cheap. A mere 2 oz. jar (enough for just two sandwiches) will set you back between $8 and $15, plus shipping.

You can also find gourmet peanut butter flavors like Dark Chocolate Dreams and Cinnamon Raisin Swirl from Peanut Butter and Company at many large supermarkets in the jams and jellies section.

Why Buy It When You Can Make It Yourself?

But why buy gourmet peanut butter when you can make your own? This simple homemade peanut butter recipe takes only minutes to prepare, and once you make it, your kids will never ask for a regular peanut butter sandwich again.

Serve this white chocolate peanut butter on brioche or any good-quality soft bread with sliced bananas, a thin layer of apricot jelly or fresh blueberries. Dried cranberries make an excellent stir-in for this white chocolate peanut butter, too.

Is Peanut Butter Healthy?

Concerned about calories and fat? Not to worry. Peanut butter does have fat, but it is mostly the good kind of heart-healthy, mono-unsaturated fat. What's more, peanut butter has no cholesterol and offers a good source of vegetable protein.

Scrape down the bowl and process again until the peanut butter becomes smooth, adding a teaspoon of canola oil if necessary, to reach the desired consistency.
