Healthy Eating for Kids

It all starts with breakfast.

We're all looking for healthy ways to feed our kids. But you don't have to engage in battles over bites of broccoli.

One of the easiest ways to get kids to eat healthy is to start them off with a good breakfast.

I often tell my kids, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." But I never thought they were listening until my oldest came home recently and said they had been talking about healthy eating in school.

Apparently, when the teacher asked if anybody knew what the most important meal of the day was, my daughter was the only one to raise her hand.

Score one for mom!

I love to cook breakfast because it's so easy to make healthy breakfast foods. I can whip up a strawberry smoothie in about two minutes flat or make crockpot oatmeal the night before.

Even a homemade pumpkin bran muffin or chocolate chip scone makes a good breakfast when it's paired with low-fat milk.

And remember, modeling is still the most important tool in getting your kids to eat healthy. So make sure you sit down with them and eat a healthy breakfast too.
