There's nothing like a good appetizer to set the mood for the holiday dinner.

So you've been asked to bring an appetizer for Thanksgiving dinner and you don't know what to make. No problem.

Try my cheese dip with garlic. Inspired by Alton Brown's fromage fort, it's one of my favorite recipes (and a great way to clean out the cheese drawer in your fridge.

Spinach phyllo cups have all the flavors of spanakopita with none of the hassle.

If you're looking for something a bit more gourmet, try roasted red pepper artichoke tapenade. You can serve it with anything from crackers to carrot sticks and bread sticks. The flavors are amazing.

My goat cheese tarts are always a hit, too. The first time I made these for a school function, I had teachers calling and emailing me for weeks after for the recipe.

Mini tomato tarts come together in no time, and they look so pretty. The secret is pre-made mini fillo tart shells.

And remember, it isn't about how much work you do on the Thanksgiving dinner, it's about being with family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving!
